    Keeping Chickens

Everyone knows about the eggs, but chickens can also help produce large amounts of compost and it’s possible to grow much of their food.

    Greenhouses

Greenhouses can help you grow different species for longer in the year, plus, they don’t have to be expensive, large, or hard to build.

  • Pruning

Pruning is essential for maintaining the health and producivity of many species. We can teach you how, when, and where to prune and also perform the work ourselves!

Creating our nursery and gardens has been incredibly rewarding, but it is not without its challenges. Our farm has sandy soils, numerous invasive weeds, and an abundance of pests. It has been a steep learning curve figuring out the best ways to irrigate our plants, ward off pests, create healthy soils, and tend to our chickens. But we always keep the goal of making our systems low-cost and as self-sufficient as possible.

Our philosophy of working the land might be described as permaculture, regenerative, or even just frugal, but our gardens, nursery, fields, and woodlands provide quite the bounty to plants, animals, and humans alike. And we find a more hands off/wild approach leads to super productive and beautiful landscapes.

Site Visits & Consultations

For most projects, we start with a site visit or virtual tour of your outdoor space to discuss your goals and what you would like to accomplish. During this initial time, we can help you ID beneficial and invasive plants, teach you how to easily propagate certain species, and overall just share our knowledge about how to manage your space to reach your goals. We can suggest plants to add, plants to remove, succession planting, food forest creation, and more. This option is great for those who want to learn a little bit more about how to use permaculture and regenerative practices in their space. Our goal is to spread knowledge about native species, tips on how to re-wild your yard, provide resources on how to obtain native plants, and give you inspiration to get your hands dirty!

Landscape/Garden Design & Project Management

After a consultation, you can partner with us further to help bring your visions to life. Using photos, maps, and other web tools, we can identify various micro-climates and growing zones, and come up with a tailor made digital plan for your specific space. These custom maps account for your timeline and budget and can be scaled up or down as you please. From small vegetable gardens to multi-acre orchards, we can help with design, sourcing, installation, and maintenance!

Clearing, Pruning, & Installation

To make real change happen you have to get your hands dirty! But if that’s not your jam, we got you! As our schedule allows, we can tackle the hard work for you. This can involve clearing spaces, pruning trees, or installing the vision we helped you create! We have planted thousands of plants and understand the nuances of different site conditions, species, and more. Some projects may take only an afternoon and some are multi-year relationships, but either way we love seeing your vision all the way through!
