(Diospyros virginiana)
6-12” Bare Root Tree
Collected from tasty parent trees in Virginia, this native variety of Persimmon has much more flavor than the varieties you can find at the store, if of course you’re willing to wait for the tree to fruit. Here in Maine, ripe persimmons are rare, but if you’re willing to plant now and wait a decade or two, you will be heavily rewarded by a bountiful harvest that starts feeding you when all the other produce has passed in late fall.
Hardiness: Zone 5-9 with potential for Zone 4 Hardiness
Soil: Acidic, Clay, Loamy, Moist, Sandy, Well Drained
Light: Full Sun/Partial Shade
Notes: This tree requires pollination from a mother and father plant so you need at least a few of these seedlings to ensure you get fruit!
