Foxglove Beardtongue - Seeds & Bare Root Plant

from $4.00

Penstemon digitalis

The tallest native beardtongue, Penstemon digitalis features interesting perfoliate leaves and long-lasting, tubular white to pale pink flowers with prominent purple throats. Blooming in early summer, these striking flowers attract a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies. After flowering, the plant produces shiny purple seed pods that add visual interest to the garden.

Adaptable to a range of soil conditions, this hardy wildflower thrives in both dry and wet soils. It grows up to 4 feet tall, making it a standout addition to meadows, pollinator gardens, and mixed perennial beds. Pair it with Hairy Beardtongue (coming soon!) for a lively “Penstemon party.”

Seeds require cold stratification to germinate—read this quick article to learn how to accomplish this.

Soil: Dry to wet soils
Light: Full sun to part shade
