Foxglove Beardtongue - Bare Root Plant
Bare Root Plants can be planted into loose soil in the Fall or Spring and kept moist until new growth emerges.
(Penstemon digitalis)
The tallest native beardtongue, this plant has interesting perfoliate leaves and long lasting , tubular, white to pale pink flowers with prominent purple throats, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. After blooming, shiny purple seed pods form. It can tolerate a range of soil conditions and is one of my personal favorite wildflowers. Pair it with Hairy Beardtongue (coming soon!) for a Penstemon party.
Hardiness: Zone 3-8
Soil: Dry to wet soils
Light: Sun to part shade
